This time our Special Guest Star is dedicated to one of the many works
of the "Queen of manga" Rumiko Takahashi. Already author of
several long manga series like Urusei Yatsura (Lum), Maison Ikkoku and
Ranma 1/2, in the end of 1996, the most talented and prolific manga-ka
gives life to the adventures of Inu Yasha. The Inu Yasha manga
is being released translated into English by www.viz.com
in graphic novel format but also the original Japanese manga are available
in the larger Japanese bookstores in the States. Inu Yasha has been turned
into anime as a TV series (premiered October 16, 2000, and still running),
and four movies: the first "Affections Touching Across Time",
published in december 2001, the second "The Castle Beyond the Looking
Glass" in december 2002, the third "Swords of an Honorable Ruler"
in december 2003 and the fourth "Fire on the Mystic Island"
released in Japan in dicember 2004.

Inu Yasha
- The story
Kagome's family is the guardian of the old shrine Higurashi. It's a place
full of mysteries and stories but the young girl doesn't believe all of
these tales of demons and elfish told by her grandpa and, when he gives
her the magical Shikon no Tama (Jewel of the Four Souls), Kagome considers
it a normal marble of glass. Now in 1996, Kagome is celebrating her 15th
birthday when is pulled through the Bone-Eater's Well by a demon and travels
back in time to Japan's Sengoku Jidai (or age of warring states). Here
she meets a boy half-demon and half-human. His name, Inu Yasha,
is composed by two different words: Inu meaning "dog"
and Yasha that means an indian mythology demon, people are afraid
of him but at the same time worship him... we simply can translate them
as "dog-demon"! Inu Yasha is fixed in immobile form to a tree,
having been trapped there by Kikyo's spell for 50 years. Kikyo was a priestess
of the village who guarded the Shikon no Tama and, at her death from fatal
injiuries, had the jewel cremated with her so that it didn't fall into
wrong hands...
Kagome, who is the re-incarnation of Kikyo, has brought the jewel back
to the Sengoku Jidai 50 years later, and releases Inu-Yasha from the entrapment
spell. But now the dog-demon wants the mysterious Shikon and the young
girl has to protect it even against all the demons. Accidentally, the
jewel is splintered into numerous shards, but even the smallest piece
can give both youkai [demons] and ningen [humans] a huge power-up. Now
Kagome, the only person who can see them glowing, and Inuyasha, who needs
the Shikon to become a full demon, have to find all the shards and reassemble
the jewel...
Now it's time to let the images talk and the music play...time to enjoy
with Inu Yasha music videos...

Drama/Romance/Fun? How does that work? Remember, this is a Rumiko
Takahashi series we're talking about.
This vid was almost renamed to "Kagome vs. Kikyo" but
I smacked that title down faster than my friend could suggest. As
far as character analysis goes, pay attention to the beat of the
lead guitar and the lyrics in sequence. The strobes appear for a
reason to compare and contrast Kagome and Kikyo. Some people who
haven't seen the series may think all of the long dark-haired girls
in this vid are Kagome. That's EXACTLY what I'm trying to do; using
various poses of both Kikyo and Kagome armed with longbow and arrow.
What's Inu Yasha's problem? Technically, they're the same soul!
(AHH SPOILER WARNINGS)
This vid has a few spoilers, but nothing I'd call story wrecking.
The ending came out differently than expected and I'm beginning
to understand the meaning of action sync vs. lyric TO action sync.
This adds new depth to a vid when lyrics either do the opposite
of action or a deeper meaning is meant to be found.
Using the motion effect, (which now I know how to utilize the "breathing"
effect in Ermac's "Closer" vid [this effect is NOT in
my vid though]) I've created a somewhat, "dancing" image
vid. Take note of the sync and also, NO SUBS! EVERY SCENE I PICKED
HAS PRACTICALLY NO SUBS! ALL OF WHICH WERE EDITED OUT TO THE FRAME!
Some of you may take note that I DID pay attention to the subtitle
removal guides. ^_^ Tanks to those who made them! Without further
ado, CHECK OUT THE VID!

Well, this vid is part of "Feel the Rhythm" so a "dance"
style song is involved. However, when I look at the whole video,
this thing is hard for me to categorize. I'm hoping some of you
will help me to do so.
This is a somewhat "angry" vid so to speak. Many of the
scenes depict emotions off the negative side of the scale. Rather,
there's nothing "light" about this video at all. There
may be a smile but overall, I made this vid with anger in mind.
With SOOO many episodes and SOOO many characters in the Inu Yasha
Manga / Anime, it was REAL hard finding the exact footage I needed.
Mostly Kikyo's appaearances. The quality takes a dip sadly from
time to time but I tried my best to make it as good as possible.
BTW, don't try to adjust your screen's settings due to the "four
sided" letter boxing frame I made. It's there for a reason.
This video stretched my limits in terms of applying fx and scene
selection. I like this video. A lot. This is also probably the first
video that I'VE made which I believe can be placed in my AMV Masters
folder.
Be wary of "exact" lyric matching. I almost tossed them
out the window. In "Aluminum Studios" terms, the lyrics
don't make this video, not like my other "Feel the Rhythm"
videos. There's a great deal of symbolism to be had with the scenes
chosen. One minor way I interpreted a lyric: "Far Away..."
I displayed scenes of mostly Kagome. You'll get the idea once you've
viewed this video.
The fans may probably enjoy this video and understand its symbolisms
more than those who've never seen the series before, but I'm trying
to build a story. Somewhat disconnected it may seem since the episodes
used were so damn far apart. And so, I give you the end of "Feel
the Rhythm".

It's rather interesting how this video came about. A long time ago,
I'd originally planned to do a Fushigi Yuugi video using this particular
song, but unfortunately for FY, Inuyasha came along and took over
as my favourite anime series. With interest in FY waning, so did
all the FY videos I'd planned. Then, earlier this month, I received
my copy of the first Inuyasha movie DVD. Having enjoyed it thoroughly,
I made up my mind to do a video for it as soon as I had the time,
though I was at a loss as to the song. It didn't take long for me
to pull out an old MD and chance across this wonderfully emotive
piece.
This video isn't meant to be a technical masterpiece - unlike my
recent action vids, I started out doing romance vids and I'm going
back to my roots, therefore Beyond Time is a slow, romantic (sappy
^_^) moody piece with an overall sombre, wistful feel to it. It's
a video which I hope will be able to draw out some emotion or another
from viewers. Unlike my previous IY romance vid, this one is a lot
more Kagome-oriented, and me being an Inuyasha-Kagome fan, naturally
our favourite hanyou's inside as well. :) However, Kikyo features
at certain key points as well, perhaps to drive home the point that
Kagome did, indeed, love a certain someone long before her time.
:)
Best if viewed with some knowledge of the movie and the anime series,
but universal enough, I hope, in its overall theme of love to appeal
to those who aren't fans.

This video was one of the first Inu Yasha videos on the web, and
I also believe the first video to be considered a "drug trip".
It's the only way I can describe the video. It was alot of fun to
make, however my computer would crash after every edit, so it took
forever to do. It turned out alright, and if it doesn't make sense,
it's not suppose to.
