Today our Special Guest Star page is dedicated to all the fans of fantasy, but also to those who love action, with "Tenku no Escaflowne" ("The vision of Escaflowne"), a very well done anime with a soundtrack let's say epic, that is really worth to buy. There are also two manga of Escaflowne, one composed of 8 volumes and the shojo manga that are actually quite different from the anime and they surely are not so poetic. We hope with this special to increase the number of fans of this beautiful anime and of the Japanese world of anime and manga so loved by us of Dragon Ball Arena.
Of course, since this is a feature of music videos, we will introduce Escaflowne to you with three music videos by our friend Fluxmeister who has been able to catch the three main "themes" of the anime: the fate, the love between Hitomi and Van and the fights between the Guymelefs.
I let the task to "tell" the events of Escaflowne and make the reviews of the music videos to our webmaster Gogeta, a very fond of this anime! ^__^

Hitomi Kanzaki is a High School teacher member of the track team and... engrossed in tarots;in fact, it seems like she has some innate capability to forecast the future. During a track meeting (she runs the 100 meters in less than 13 seconds) in order to wring a kiss from her lover Senpai Amano, Hitomi runs in to a misterious boy, wearing an armor and carryng a sword, suddenly appered on the track. He is Prince Van Fanel of Fanelia, who is fighitng against the dragon of Earth, that will appear right back. The hunt to the dragon is the ritual for the Prince of Fanelia to inherit the throne of Fanelia, after defeating the dragon and taking form its body the Drag-Energist. It will be Hitomi herself the one who saves Van from a sure death, thanks to one of her visions, and will allow him to defeat the dragon. But, as a lightning in a sunny day, a column of light wraps Van and Hitomi transporting them to a unknown place, where in the sky... there are the Earth and the Moon? Yes... this is Gaea, homeland of Van, where the Earth is better known as Mystic Moon. Arrived on Fanelia, Hitomi
will meet the Supreme Balgas, master of sword of Van, and will have a new vision: Fanelia put to fire and the sword by the "invisible giants"and Balgas death. Unfortunately her prediction will come true and Van will manage to take her to a safe place on board of the Escaflowne, the Ispano Guymelef (Guymelef = giant battle robots) that the Prince will activate thanks to the Drag-Energist withdrawn from the dragon of Earth. The Guymelefs built by the Ispano are very beautiful, that
have the unique characteristic to get bond to their pilot by a pact of blood... the same pact that ties Van and the Escaflowne.
The two kids will find themselves fighting against Dornkirk, the emperor of Zaibach, whose dream is to unite the entire planet of Gaea under the same flag, the one of Zaibach, of course, using the lost power of Atlantis. The power of Atlantis... it is told that the inhabitants of Atlantis lived on the Mystic Moon and had a very advanced technology. They were able to
build a machine that could turn wishes in reality; in order to be closer to the gods they asked and obtained some angelic wings but... the power of wishes brought them to destruction and as last wish they asked for a new planet where to find peace and start a new life: Gaea.
Now the emperor Dornkirk wants to recall the ancient power of Atlantis and have the control on it in order to guarantee to all the Gaea people a perfect destiny, a world of peace, with no wars, a world where every wish is granted, a world that will never exist, since it's destined to destruction just because of that same power of Atlantis that long time before exterminated the descendants of the people of Atlantis became known as the Draconians, of which Fanel himself belongs.
Faithful servants of Dornkirk are the military counsellor Folken Fanel (Van's brother), who betrayed his own Fanelia to follow Dornirk's cause (Folken invented the stealth cloak, who makes the Zaibach Guymelef invisible, remember the "invisible giants"), and the commander Dilandau (having an obscure past, whose confused memories appear from time to time in her mind... the images of a happy little girl), and the four demoniac armies of Zaibach.
Also Van and Hitomi will find some allies, first of all Allen Schezar, the guy Hitomi will fall in love with, 'cause he remebers her of Senpai Amano. The battle between Guymelefs will follow one another with a frantic rhythm and Zaibach will seem to have the best of it, but something will dim the vision of the ideal future of Dornkirk in his Destiny-Predicting Device: the love that will spread out between Van and Hitomi, a love that the two themselves will recognize very late.
There would be much more to tell, but I believe I've already given you the foundamental elements for understanding and appreciating the awesome music videos of this marvelous special!
