What
has a guy named Boyakki (fans of Time Bokan series certainly know him)
got to do with Dragon Ball? Now we're going to explain...
A friend of our forum hides himself behind this nickname and enjoyed collecting
some curiosities about Dragon Ball's world! Give a look and will discover
some very interesting things!! ^__^
Also
in Italy Dragon Ball GT has arrived, much faster than what we were
expecting! So, the Italian fans of this masterpiece by Akira Toriyama,
Tori for his friends, were able to watch the series that finally
presents the last level of Super Saiyan, considered already as
a myth (even if the VHS' s commercial spoke about the series as The
Great Return of Pilaf... but this is another story).
But... all this spasmodic waiting was justified?
Most people's opinion was NO!
Oh well, the Super Saiyan IV should have been something totally
shaking, extremely powerful, terribly brutal and pitiless, unreachable,
invincible, invulnerable. And instead...
Besides that it has not been drawn and characterized by the Master, there
are too many aspects that do not convince.
First, the transformation lasts too short! But this is also comprehensible,
since the spell that made Goku a child, does not allow him to exploit
all his power to the utmost. We have to say that the trick of the transformation
stole too much charm from the characters: well, I also loved the first
DB series, but after the Z it was unthinkable to return to the origins!
In the end, also the ones from Bird Studio have been persuaded of this!
Just them who introduced the SSJ4, while at the beginning, if I was not
bad informed, Dragon Ball GT had to be based only on Chibi Goku!
Besides, also the other characters seem less powerful and less motivated,
first of all a clearly flappy Trunks.
But now I'm a little bit straying... so I immediately come back in theme!
Always about the transformation, to me, it looks only a little "choreographic"!
Let me explain myself: when Goku reached the previous level of SSJ3, his
huge KI shook the Earth and the seas... and even the other world, since
even North Kaioh felt it as he was there.
Ok
for the first transformation, when Chibi Goku became Ohzaru Gold and then
compressed his power into a being of normal size, but then, when he turns
SSJ4, there are no more than few earthquakes. Ok, this trasformation happens
several times, more than the other one, but this way the idea of how Goku
becomes poweful, is halved! Most DB fans think SSJ4 should had been so
powerful he would take the risk to destroy the Earth if he just would
have moved quite too roughly, but they got really disappointed!
Always
talking about power... it is true that in this series everyone seem to
have (or really have) become more weak, but it is intolerable that even
Goku conforms to this! Just to make an example, the Kamehameha 10x should
look as something devastating, that leaves the land burned (but not even
that!) after it has been shot... and instead, it just makes some holes
in the ground (a very ridiculous thing remembering the Z series) and it
is NOT even able to destroy a city!
Just to make an unfair similitude, Freeza, who now would find hard to
fight even against Goten, crushed mountains just by looking at them; and
what about that clumsy of Nappa, who just by snapping his fingers can
destroy all Satan City!!! Can it be? Even Vash The Stampede (a Trigun's
character) could do better.
This technique is not ever decisive: it doesn't have any effect against
Super 17, let's forget it against Li Shenron!! But how can it be that it
is rejected even by the gummy belly of the two star dragon? I CAN NOT
ACCEPT IT!!!
About
his resolution: SSJ4 is not a decisive character at all! Come on, he barely
defeats Bebi, he's useless against Super 17 (Goku hurted much more as
a child -.-)! Goku is able to defeat a dragon more as a chibi than as
SSJ4, without considering the final victory, why?
Sure, someone may say that the only true decisive level of Super Saiyan
was the first, but this would mean to belittle too much a character as
important as Goku.
Do you want to talk about physical strength? Let's do it! The SSJ4 sustains
with difficulty the weight of a collapsing palace! Ok those such things
are usually done by Superman and Incredible Hulk, but with the power he
has reached, Goku should be able to sustain it just using his KI!!
Is SSJ4 Goku the one who can do anything with no difficulty at all, or
not?!
And
than there are the usual garish things: since when a Saiyan turns Ohzaru
he destroys his clothes (as far as he is not wearing a battle suit, but
this is another point), when he returns normal he should be naked; since
SSj4 comes from the Ohzaru level, Bird Studio, in order to avoid too much
skin showed, had the great idea to make him turn with his trousers already
on, and what about Vegeta SSJ4? He even has a very cool belt! It would
be neither that bad if it wasn't for Goku, who when return normal, a child,
he is dressed just like before the transformation, or even better, since
all the rips and the stains have disappeared from the clothes; the funny
thing is that this happens more than once in the same episode. Does the
SSJ4's body has the capacity to incorporate the clothes? Ok that Piccolo
materialized Gohan's suit, but this is quite different!
The
only SSJ4 quite interesting is Gogeta (eh beh...); too bad he shows up
for a time in inverse relation to his power... after less than an episode
he disappeares! A complete flop also in this.
So, the final question that raises from these considerations is: why do
they create a character useless and little captivating as the SSJ4?
Can it be that Bird Studio makes him so, following an order given by Tori,
who wanted to have his revenge since he himself didn't create him?!
Ok, these are just jokes. The truth is that DBGT has been created in a
fast and furious way, just to please the fans, who for many years asked
for new adventures of the Saiyans (and it's not hard to believe after
have watching the ugly ending of the Z serie!); in fact, the best ideas
of this new series has been recycled from the Z itself, and some scenes
are just be cloned from it and from the movies (maybe one day I will make
a list, but not now)! Without considering that there is even a full episode
made with scenes of the Z series, that had the result of producing alienating
effects on the audience (?). As if this was not enough, some quite good
ideas but not well developed in the Z, have been resumed in the GT series
with quite poor results, first of all Ub, a real monument to uselessness!
And then, the GT sometimes doesn't respect any logical thread of some
events occurred in the Z; for example, why in the GT does Gohan turn SSJ
if during the Z serie he reached the level of Mystic Gohan?
I'm sorry to admit it, believe me, but DBGT has been realized just with
commercial meanings. If only Tori would wanted to have a hand in it...
