Episode
#9
(Aired 4/24/96)
Shimatta!! Gokuu tobikomu wana no hoshi!?
Damn!! Gokuu Leaps into the Trap Planet!?
The crew piles into the ship, and they chase after the alien. As Trunks
wonders who the Ball snatcher is, the alien ship flies away. Inside it,
three aliens (all obviously of the same species; see note below) are looking
over the Dragon Ball and trying to figure out what the big deal is. The
ship's computer detects foreigners following them, and it warps away.
After some hesitation, Trunks warps after them. The alien ship has the
speed, but Trunks claims to be able to catch them using technique (ignoring
the fact that he's still a novice ship pilot.) At first, he barely avoids
an asteroid field, then he gets cocky and bounces around like a pinball.
(Pan gets angry at him for this.)
The aliens are getting concerned at not losing their tail, and the leader
-- Bonpara -- asks the computer for suggestions. It replies that the nearby
planet of Beehei would be a good place for a trap, as it is filled with
giant worm monsters. Bonpara agrees, and they fly at full power with Trunks
in close pursuit. (Lots of recycled animation here.) The aliens enter
one tunnel leading into the planet's core, and hide in a cross tunnel
as the heroes enter deep into the planet. The alien's computer calculates
the humans' odds of surviving at 0.000000112%. Bonpara is pleased at this,
and the aliens fly away from Beehei.

[Commercial Break]

On the aliens'
home planet, life looks as grim as the landscape. In a large temple, worshippers
are chanting a prayer. In front of them is a stage, with a huge stone
idol holding a huge urn. On stage, a masked priest demands that the next
of his minions step forward and give him a Dragon Ball. The hapless minion
couldn't find one anywhere, so the priest uses his whip on the minion's
neck to turn him into a small limp doll. The doll is then tossed into
the urn. There is a release of energy, which cause the stone idol's eyes
to flash, and some gas to bubble up in some kind of filter flask near
by. The priest tells the worshippers that "Hakkai ma" Ruudo
is pleased with the sacrifice. Then he yells at the worshippers to return
to their chanting.
The three Para want to run away, but Bonpara reminds them that they do
have the Shadow Dragon Ball. The priest snaps his whip at them, and they
approach to hand over the Ball. The priest seems surprised, but says that
Donpara, Bonpara, and Sunpara may have done a good job. However, there
was a second Dragon Ball that had been with the first DB. He is going
to punish them for missing the second Ball, but the Para plead for one
more chance. They rush to the ship and demand that the ship take them
to the humans.
In Beehei, the heroes are getting frustrated. Pan asks Gill where the
Dragon Ball is, and the robot can't find it. Pan thinks that Gill is acting
up, but the Radar in its back shows that the Ball is not within the planet.
Trunks plans on flying the ship back outside, when Gill announces "danger,
danger". They are attacked by giant worms.
The aliens arrive, with no idea as to how to locate the humans. They decide
to try a brute force search, and stumble on the giant worms attacking
the Earth ship. Gokuu and company exit the ship to fight the worms one-on-one.
(Gill strikes a stupid action pose, then hides on Trunks' back.) Donpara
and Sunpara are panicking at the continued battle, until Bonpara suggests
that while the humans are fighting, they can search the Earth ship for
the second Ball.
The heroes use energy attacks on one worm -- to no effect. Gokuu thinks
that these worms may be the strongest enemy they've faced so far. And,
the Para get into the Earth ship.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: the three
aliens all end their sentences with "para" which is similar
to Toriyama's demons in the afterworld, who appended "oni" to
their sentences. Since the new villains are named "Bonpara",
"Donpara", and "Sunpara", I am naming their race the
"Para" until I get an official name for them.

Episode #10
(Aired 5/1/96)
Ototte Attakku!? Bonpappa -- !!
Dance Attack!? Boom-shakalaka!!
We get a repeat of the last few minutes of the previous episode. Pan wants
to talk, as the first worm lunges at them. There is some fighting, with
the worms winning. The Paras can't find the second Ball, and conclude
that the humans must have it on them. And, if the the humans die, the
Paras will be turned into dolls. On planet Ruudo, the High Priest -- Mochimochi
-- is given some prisoners to turn into dolls -- the power from the prisoners
is given to Ruudo-sama; the dolls get tossed into the urn, and the liquid
level in the filter flask rises a bit. The Paras start cheering for the
humans to win.
Eventually, Gokuu tries bareback riding on one worm, and falls down into
its hole. This lets Gokuu push the worm up and free of the ground. He
trashes the worm. The three heroes now fly into the holes and do much
serious hurt on the worms. At last, there is a very big pile of unconscious
worms. The Paras applaud them. Bonpara asks if the humans have one more
Dragon Ball, and to hand it over. Pan demands the first Ball back. So,
the Paras go into a dance pose.

[Commercial Break]

At first, there
is a stare-down. The Paras laugh stupidly, then take off their armor,
which turns out to be a 3-piece speaker/sound/light system The Paras start
dancing. It is catchy enough that after a while, all three humans are
forced to dance also (including Gill.) Pan is upset at having to dance
to such a horrible routine. There is much recycled animation. Now, with
no control over their bodies, the humans get beaten up by Bonpara for
not trying hard enough and for making mistakes. The heroes are helpless.
The Paras speed up the dance. Gill burns out.
The worms all wake up, and attack Bonpara. With the villains' concentration
broken, the music and light show ends, the spell wears off, and the heroes
can now promptly kick Bonpara into the ceiling. Pan declares the villains
to be scum.
The Paras are tied up. Gokuu eats while Pan, Gill and Trunks search the
alien ship for the missing Dragon Ball. Trunks gives up and steps outside.
Then, the ship's controls start flashing, gaining Pan's attention. The
computer (which sounds just like Akumaku from KO Beast Century) announces
that the ship is launching to return to Planet Ruudo now. And, it does
so, to Trunks' and Gokuu's horror.

Episode #11
(Aired 5/8/96)
Ruudo no meroi!? Ningyou ni sareta Pan
The Curse of Ruudo!? Pan turns into a Doll
With triumphal music in the background, the Para ship returns to Planet
Ruudo. The gravity returns to Ruudo standard. Gill lands on Pan's head.
Her anger is short lived, as she tries to get Gill to help her out. Gill
just retreats, saying "danger, danger". Pan can't understand
the control panel. Instead, she decides that since Gill is a machine,
like the ship is, it should just naturally be able to figure out how the
ship works, and to tell her what button to press to return to Gokuu and
Trunks. The robot points to a button that she depresses -- a trapdoor
opens and Pan falls down into the garbage chute.
On Beehei, Gokuu wonders where Pan went, and Trunks demands answers from
the Paras. The villains sway and chant "1 - 2, 1 - 2, I don't know."
"1 - 2, 1 - 2, I don't know." "1 - 2, 1 - 2, I don't know
anything about Planet Ruudo."
On Ruudo, the ship lands and dumps its luggage, and Gill, on top of Pan's
head. She tries to figure out where she is, while Gill stuffs its "face"
with electronics cables from one box. Nearby, similar ships are lined
up in two rows, looking like fungus growing from the rock face. Pan guesses
that she's on the villains' planet. Then Gill discovers the location of
a Dragon ball. Pan wonders why the Ball would be here, and decides that
it must be a souvenir that the 3 space "tourists" brought back
here with them. She carries Gill, looking for the souvenir. It takes her
to a castle-like pillar. At this point, Gill panics and calls out "danger"
repeatedly. The closer they get, the more Gill panics. (The robot pretends
to be dead.) Pan wants to know what kind of danger, and is told "the
dangerous kind" (Gill switches from saying "chiken" to
"abunai".) Pan gives up and flies to the pillar alone.
Once inside, Pan hears chanting. There is a giant door, with a huge lock.
Above the door are many smaller, human-sized openings. Inside is a very
creepy hallway lined with old cracked statues of Ruudo holding giant urns.
Pan is getting freaked out by this, then she reaches the huge cavern with
Mochimochi, the current Ruudo statue, and the chanting worshippers. Mochimochi
tells the worshippers to keep chanting -- their lives are Ruudo's power.
Pan sees the second Dragon Ball just before two guards discover her.

[Commercial Break]

The Earth ship
lands on creepy Planet Ruudo, and Trunks steps out. Gokuu follows with
the Paras tied up on a rope. The Paras bite onto the ship with their teeth,
refusing to leave the ship. Trunks presses a button on the ship and zaps
them. The Paras plead to not be taken to Mochimochi (from now on referred
to as M2). Gill flies up and finds them. It says that Pan is in danger.
In the cavern, Pan is trashing guards. M2 notices, and Pan flies to him
to berate M2 for behaving so badly and taking the Dragon Ball. M2 introduces
himself as the priest of Ruudo-sama, and that he is trying to bring back
the dead god. While he is talking, Pan takes the Ball and flies back up
above the door. She tries to leave, but a light glows in the statue's
eye and hit Pan. She is turned into a doll, and the Dragon Ball bounces
back to M2's feet. Pan silently wonders what happened -- why she can't
move anymore. M2 is about to put Pan in the urn, wondering where the other
Ball is, when an earthquake makes the priest drop Pan on the floor. The
quake is caused by Trunks and Gokuu (still dragging the Paras by the end
of his rope) flying down through the earth. Gokuu can't find Pan. The
Paras claim to have found the Ball, but M2 doesn't buy it. He turns the
trio into dolls and throws them into the urn -- the liquid level in the
flask increases noticeably. Gokuu calls this "horrible", but
M2 says that since this was for Ruudo, it was a "great thing"
he did. M2 then demands the second Dragon Ball.
The statue shoots out more light, hitting the worshippers instead. M2
stares in horror, tricking Trunks into looking backwards. M2's whip pulls
Trunks to the ground, but the whip can't touch Gokuu. Gokuu tries to punch
M2 in the face, and suddenly gets a big gun stuffed up his nose for a
point-blank shot to the head (very funny scene.)
Mochimochi calls for the ultimate weapon to be brought out -- a huge blue
lion with an orange mane and massively long fangs. Gokuu fires an energy
bolt to the ceiling -- the falling rocks land on the lion-mecha and crush
it (also a funny scene.) Pan, still lying on her back, silently calls
out to be saved. Gill runs towards her, and Pan thinks that it has found
her. Except, Gill is running away and it steps on her face. Pan vows to
never forget this indignity. Gill stops and turns. It picks her up, recognizing
the doll as looking like Pan. Then, the robot is booted away by some mysterious
person who picks up the Pan doll.
Mochimochi can't believe that "Lion" was destroyed. Suddenly,
there is an explosion and M2 blows up. Gokuu and Trunks are ok. They react
to a cackling voice that comments on how the intruders have some skill.
M2's whip coils up, and acts alive. It regains its original shape -- that
of a yellow serpent demon named "Muchi" ("whip").
Muchi claims to be the True Priest of Ruudo.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: Muchi
calls itself "Ruudo-sama no shinkan", or Ruudo's priest. Shinkan
translates to "a Shinto Ritualist".
NOTE: this episode really reminds me of several issues of the early Cerebus
comic. I expect more parallels later on.

Episode #12
(Aired 5/15/96)
Kami no otsuge wa chou-meiwaku!! Ruudo Kidou
The Oracle of God is REALLY Troublesome!! Soldier Ruudo
Mushi and the heroes are in a stand-off, while the worshippers run away.
Mushi's first moves are to snap its whip-arms at the ground near the heroes'
feet. Gokuu, based on the last guy they fought, says that he looks forward
to fighting Mushi. Mushi snarls that since the pair don't know the extent
of its frightening powers, it will demonstrate first -- then it starts
whipping the floor again. Rock slabs rise from the ground, as Mushi explains
that it is a demon with control over earth. The slabs attack. Gokuu and
Trunks run away, barely avoiding the slabs. Trunks wants to know what
to do, and the only reaction possible is to smash up the slabs that get
too close. They get hit by some slabs, and Trunks uses an energy ball
to blow more away. Then, more slabs swoop in to attack, knocking Trunks
through a wall and down to a courtyard below. Extra slabs drop down on
him, burying him under a pyramid of rock. Trunks catches the slabs on
his shoulders, but now he can't move because of the weight.
Gokuu shows up through a doorway, and runs down some stairs to see if
Trunks is ok. Mushi snaps the stairs, and they weave, throwing Gokuu to
the ground below. Mushi snaps several pairs of swords, which fly at Gokuu,
caging him in. Gokuu escapes the cage to attack Mushi, while the demon
snaps on a pillar. Two fire pots attached to the pillar join, to make
a flying, fire-belching cannon. Gokuu's pants burn, as Mushi commands
the cannon to keep attacking. Gokuu grabs one of the swords and destroys
the firepots with it. Gokuu challenges Mushi to a direct combat; the demon
gets angry and snaps the floor; it grows hands which grab Gokuu's legs.
Trapped against the floor, Gokuu gets whipped and kicked, while yelling
out "Stop this!" The boy escapes, but Mushi snaps the wall,
and a statue reaches out to grab Gokuu again. Pissed off, our
hero goes SSJ; destroying the statue and smashing Mushi to the ground.
Mushi can't understand what just happened.
Meanwhile, a monkey-man with long blond hair is in a room, watching the
battle via a monitor screen. The monkey strokes the Pan doll in his arms.
He comments on Gokuu's energy, which would be good for giving to Ruudo,
but Mushi is not strong enough to defeat the boy alone. Then, a messenger
enters the room to tell the "Sect's Founder" (the monkey) that
some strangers have arrived and killed Moshimoshi. The Founder replies
that he wants the worshippers to gather in front of Ruudo, and adds that
everything is ok. The messenger leaves, and Pan silently wonders how this
wimp could be the Founder of the Ruudo sect. He keeps stroking Pan, and
chuckling. He then uses his ring to summon what looks like a silver flashlight.

[Commercial Break]

In front of
Ruudo's statue, the worshippers are waiting. Many have been injured, and
are bandaged up. They are curious about Doru-takki's coming out to see
them (it's been a long time since that last happened). They expect their
Founder to make everything all right again. (Note: Doru-Takki translates
to "Doll"-Takki. I don't know what "Takki" is supposed
to mean. If it was "Tacchi", it would be "Doll Touch".)
Doru-Takki is announced, and the rabble murmurs as their founder appears.
He talks very formally. He praises them for their hard work in praying
to Ruudo, and says that their God is ready to appear. All that remains
is for them to join with Ruudo (all of this is very cryptic.) Doru-Takki
then turns on the flashlight and aims it at Ruudo's head. The crowd guesses
that they are to be Ruudo's next victims, and are correct. Doru-Takki
bids them farewell, as the beams from the statue's eyes turns the panicking
worshippers into dolls. The flashlight beam turns from red to green, causing
a massive wind to sweep the screaming dolls into Ruudo's giant urn. The
liquid level in the collector flask rises, but it is still not enough.
Normally. It is sufficient for a surprise attack on the two intruders,
allowing Doru-Takki and Pan to slip away and play together. He snuggles
against Pan's face, and she panics.
Underneath the pyramid of rocks, Trunks goes SSJ, destroys the rocks with
a kick, and then flies off to rescue Gokuu. Gokuu is still SSJ, and is
causing Mushi to wonder where this increased power and speed came from.
Their battle is more or less equal, until a smash against the rocks causes
Gokuu to revert to normal. Mushi chokes the boy, until an energy ball
blindsides Mushi and destroys the demon. Trunks asks if Gokuu is ok, and
the boy thanks his friend. A TV set is showing all of this from within
a girl's playroom, but Doru-Takki ignores it.
This is now "cute Pan's" room, and Pan guesses that this guy
is a "Doll Otaku". He claims that Pan is now his #1 favorite
doll, and won't be given to Ruudo. The next problem is to decide what
clothes to dress her up in. Doru-Takki has difficulty deciding, and finally
chooses a light aqua blouse. He struggles to remove her shirt, and Pan
silently screams out against this "etchi" behavior. Ultimately,
he lifts her shirt up (revealing a flat chest) but is interrupted by an
alarm. Ruudo's energy is not enough to make it god-like, but is at least
enough for it to move around and fight. Doru-Takki is upset that the boys
are disrupting his fun, and wants to use Ruudo to dispose of them -- he
apologizes to Pan for the delay.
Gokuu and Trunks reach Ruudo's statue, and wonder where to go to find
Pan. Trunks notices a lone doll lying on the ground, as Gokuu finds the
Dragon Ball again. Doru-Takki tells them to leave the Dragon Ball alone,
and introduces himself. And, for bothering him while he and Pan play together
(Gokuu calls out Pan's name, confirming it to Doru-Takki) he will have
them killed. He uses the flashlight on the statue, and a green beam makes
it wake up. Gill, still lying helpless on the ground, calls out "danger,
danger". The energy from the urn beams up, and cracks form across
Ruudo's body. Doru-Takki laughs maniacally.

does not appear in my dictionary.

Episode #13
(Aired 5/22/96)
Koitsu ga oyadama!? Nazo no Kagaku-sha Myuu
This is Father and Son? The Riddle of Scientist Myuu
Eventually, Ruudo breaks free of its rock casing -- to reveal a giant
yellow robot doll baby (with a stubby tail.) Gokuu laughs at its weird
face (old Victorian style, used on porcelain dolls), while Trunks notices
its great power level. Ruudo walks forward, showing how tall it is. Doru-Takki
wants Ruudo to fight for him, while he and Pan go off to play; Pan complains
that she has no intention of playing with him.
Gokuu and Trunks can't get past Ruudo to rescue Pan, and Pan is panicking
at being stuck with this pervert doll-loving fanboy. Gokuu tries to anger
Ruudo by slapping his butt at the robot. Pan is upset at not having a
voice to complain with, and is horrified when Doru-Takki talks for her
(
DT: "Pan-chan, how do you like this dress?"
Pan: "It's wonderful! Thank you, Doru-takki-san!"
DT: "No need to be so formal, 'Doru-takki' is ok."
Pan: "Doru-takki."
DT: "Pan-chan."
Pan: "Doru-takki."
DT: "Pan-chan.")
He picks out a china dress for her, but decides that her hair has to be
done up properly first (using a toothbrush). Pan hopes to be restored
again, so that she can get her revenge for this embarrassment.
Gokuu gets Ruudo to chase him -- right at Trunks. Gokuu gets some altitude
and blasts Ruudo in the face; he is surprised to see no damage. He runs
away down Ruudo's leg. This is Trunks' chance to get to Pan, except that
Ruudo steps on the pillar holding Gokuu, and the boy is catapulted up
into Trunks' head. They both fall. Ruudo steps on them.
With Pan's hair fixed up in two buns on the sides of her head, Doru-Takki
is ready to put the china dress on her. A voice disturbs them. It is Dr.
Myuu, the scientist that created Ruudo, and put Doru-Takki in charge of
collecting energy for the robot. Myuu wants to talk to Doru-Takki. At
first, Doru-Takki is so formal, kneeling with head bowed, that Pan can
not see the monitor screen to see Myuu's face.
Myuu wants to know what the status is on gathering up the Dragon Balls.
Myuu complains that they only have one Ball, and Doru-Takki promises a
second one soon. Myuu now appears on the screen, looking like a cross
between Dr. Gero, and the North Kaiou. (Long flowing red hair, and embedded
mirror shades.) Myuu wants the Balls to wish for domination over all of
the galaxies (from what I can tell.) Pan objects that this is not what
the Dragon Balls were created for.

[Commercial Break]

Myuu wants
the second Ball brought to him now, and Doru-Takki says that it'll take
a few moments, as Ruudo is currently dealing with 2 interlopers. This
makes Myuu wake up, as he demands to know what is happening with Ruudo.
Myuu asks if Ruudo has enough energy to reach level 3, and Doru-Takki
answers that level 2 is enough to beat the two boys. Myuu is invited to
watch Ruudo's progress. Right at this moment, Trunks and Gokuu turn SSJ,
and explode from under Ruudo's foot. The robot falls, destroying a pillar
and much of the floor. The heroes revert to normal, Doru-Takki panics,
Pan congratulates the boys, and Myuu snarls/laughs. Trunks and Gokuu attack
again, causing Ruudo to fall again. (Note: Ruudo sounds like a big manhole
cover grating against the ground.) Ruudo swivels its head and fires eye
bolts, then gets up. Its arms start spinning like two giant airplane propellers.
The resulting wind blows out the fires in the temple's urns, and pushes
against the heroes. They realize that while Ruudo has great power, it
uses that power without understanding it, like a child would.
Myuu chews out Doru-Takki for improperly taking initiative without consulting
him first, reminding the otaku of who it was that gave him this position
and responsibility. The idea was for Myuu's "child" to grow
up to the point where it could play with whole planets, and Doru-Takki
screwed up.
Gokuu and Trunks use energy attacks against Ruudo's shoulders, making
it lose energy and overheat. The robot drops to its knees, stops rotating
its arms, dissipates the heat, and struggles back to its feet. The heroes
try again, rapidly bashing the robot from all angles. Pan cheers them
on, watching the monitors. Myuu notices Pan stuck in Doru-Takki's belt.
Doru-Takki mentions that Pan used to be a girl, a friend of the two intruders.
Myuu says that Pan has great energy, and should be sacrificed to Ruudo.
Doru-Takki and Pan both panic over this. Doru-Takki objects, and Pan cheers
him on. Myuu decides that if Doru-Takki wants to be with Pan so badly,
both of them can be given to Ruudo. He hits some buttons on his control
panel, and some white beams turn Doru-Takki into a doll. And, a strong
wind blows them into the urn. The souls of the two dolls leave their bodies,
and enter Ruudo's mouth.
Trunks and Gokuu look in the urn for Pan, and Ruudo blows them out of
the way. The liquid in the collector flask reaches the top, and Myuu leans
forward in anticipation. Ruudo turns red, with red lights streaming across
it.
The narrator comments on Ruudo's change, asks if Gokuu can defeat Ruudo,
what will happen to Pan's soul, and asks who Myuu is. Gokuu calls out
Pan's name.

Episode #14
(Aired 6/5/96)
Rizumu de Batchiri!? Ruudo Kouryaku!!
Can We Get the Rhythm Down Perfectly!? Capture Ruudo!!
Ruudo is now at full power, red with radiated heat. Lasers shoot from
its eyes, blasting through the castle walls and detonating against the
surrounding countryside (ala Nausicaa). The heroes are impressed, and
Myuu is proud of his "baby". Trunks calls out that they have
to rescue Pan quickly.
Inside Ruudo, Pan is having a nightmare -- Doru-Takki is about to kiss
her. She wakes up. Floating around her are many other dolls, and she realizes
where she is. Doru-Takki floats up, trying to kiss her. She screams and
slaps Doru-Takki silly. The noise causes all of the other sacrifices to
wake up. Doru-Takki escapes, complaining that this is not his "cute
Pan-chan". She says that this is the real her. The Para Brothers
also wake up, wondering where they are. Pan continues bashing Doru-Takki
for being etchi, and then fires off an energy ball. It ricochets everywhere,
and Doru-Takki tells Pan that she should have listened to him when he
told her to stop. The energy ball still ends up hitting Doru-Takki in
the head. Causing the sacrifices to look his way and recognize him. He
is quickly surrounded. He insults them, telling them to not act so rudely
to the person that knows how to get to the exit. Pan gets the rabble to
settle down and follow her lead (including a little bit of morale-boosting
cheerleading.) Outside, Ruudo is getting carried away with its new powers;
blowing up the countryside. Doru-Takki is afraid of doing anything that
will expose him to Myuu's wrath again. So, he refuses to tell Pan his
secret. Pan was expecting this, and she mobilizes the Para Brothers. They
go into their dance routine (very silly -- I like it) and quickly have
Doru-Takki jumping like a mistreated puppet. He is then asked:
Q: What is your name?
A: Doru-Takki.
Q: (I'm not sure, something like "where are you from?")
A: Doll Planet.
Q: What is Ruudo's weakness?
A: It's heart.
Up above them, is a red glowing ball. Doru-Takki explains that Dr. Myuu
spun the structure of Ruudo around this heart when it was created. The
heart is probably their only way out.
Suddenly, Gokuu yells in pain, being squeezed in Ruudo's right hand. Pan
rushes to Ruudo's chest and looks out through its skin. But she is so
small and far away, that Gokuu can't hear her yelling. The only option
is for Pan to fire an energy ball at Ruudo' heart. This only screws Ruudo's
system up for a moment, but it is enough for Gokuu to escape. Pan comments
on this, and Doru-Takki insults her impetuousness -- which gets him pummeled.
Doru-Takki explains that Pan can't do it alone; the attack has to also
come from the outside at the same time. Pan rushes to Ruudo's skin, trying
to get Gokuu to attack Ruudo's heart.

[Commercial Break]

Gokuu can't
hear her, so Pan attacks Doru-Takki to find a way to contact the boy.
Doru-Takki doesn't know of a way, and Pan starts to give herself a headache
as she tries to think. The Paras then tell her that they can do telepathy;
she attacks them for not saying this earlier, then pats them on their
heads for being so useful. Doru-Takki begs for Pan to rub his head and
call him a good child also, for revealing what he knows. Pan doesn't notice
the otaku standing behind her, and she bashes him in the chin as she is
so happy at having a solution to their problems. Then, she asks if Doru-Takki
had said something to her -- Doru-Takki mutters "I thought so, she
is frightening." Pan nicely asks the Paras to perform the telepathy,
and they pull out old-style radio microphones. In (bad) 3-part harmony,
they start announcing that "they understand". (From this point
on, the Paras do all of their talking in bad 3-part do-wop. Hilarious.)
Pan tells them to quit screwing around and just get to work. They again
answer "we understand" in 3-part do-wop.
Outside, Ruudo is using its lasers against Gokuu. The boy avoids them,
but almost gets crushed under a huge falling pillar. Gokuu hears the Paras
singing in his head, saying that he should attack Ruudo's heart. He doesn't
know where that is, so Pan fires a bolt at it, causing it to shine briefly.
The Paras tell him to attack that spot. Trunks is avoiding Ruudo's grasp,
and he asks what to do. Gokuu yells out to shoot for the heart. But, as
Trunks is taking this in, Ruudo hits him point blank with its mouth cannon.
The blast destroys the castle. Trunks is immobilized, propped up against
some rubble. Leaving Gokuu to fight alone. His blast hits Ruudo in the
correct spot, but has no effect. Ruudo responds with eye lasers that Gokuu
barely evades. The Paras call out that it was Pan's fault for not attacking
simultaneously with Gokuu. They try again, but Gokuu's blast hits first.
Doru-Takki berates them for their timing, and Pan knows what the problem
is. She tells the Paras that this time she'll count to three. Gokuu doesn't
like this arrangement, because he can't count in English. So, on 'three',
Pan fires, and Gokuu is slow. They try again, and Gokuu fires on 'two'.
Ruudo attacks Gokuu with eye blasts, the Paras do-wop insults at him,
and Ruudo fires another mouth blast. Gokuu gives up on this counting business
and suggests an alternative -- "Katsudon", "tendon",
"oyakudon". The Paras don't understand this counting system,
and Pan can't believe that Gokuu is still thinking about food (all three
words are names for dishes served in a bowl.) But, Pan doesn't care anymore
what they do, as long as it works. ALL of the sacrifices call out "katsudon",
"tendon", oyakudon". Pan and Gokuu fire -- and their attacks
hit Ruudo's heart dead-on. The heart explodes, Ruudo's eyes go crazy,
and the robot falls apart. The head shuts down, and all of the souls of
the sacrifices return to their bodies in the urn. Which causes them to
all return to normal, scattered across the ruins.
Pan runs to Gokuu, they embrace, and Gokuu shows that he has the #6 Dragon
Ball. Gill becomes functional again and runs up, but is kicked away by
Pan for being too slow. Pan wonders where Doru-Takki is. The pervert flies
by in a one-man flier, and disappears up among the clouds.

Episode #15
(Aired 6/12/96)
Mou Gure te yaru!! Pan no iede!?
"I Can't Take Anymore!!" Pan Runs Away!?
The ship is flying through space again, and Pan is wondering if her current
recipe needs more spice. Gill samples it, and lists off stuff that it
thinks should be added to the food. Pan is upset at the criticism coming
from a robot, while Gill claims that it wants to make Pan's food more
delicious. Pan attacks the robot for implying that her food tastes bad.
Gokuu finds this all very entertaining, and is chewed out by Trunks for
forgetting their mission to save Earth. Trunks continues, saying that
since they have to go up against Dr. Myuu, it would have been better if
Goten had come instead of Pan. Pan overhears this and demands to know
Gokuu's opinion. Gokuu doesn't care either way, and Trunks tries to cover
over his error. But, Pan doesn't know how to handle this situation, and
runs upstairs, crying. Gill follows her.
Looking out at the starry darkness, Pan is still crying. Gill holds out
a handkerchief, commenting on the tears. Pan angrily denies that she is
crying, but eventually returns to her despair without hitting the robot.
Gill is confused by this. Later, Gill senses a Dragon Ball on a nearby
planet. The ship heads for the new planet. Then, the crew stands on the
surface of the desert planet, trying to look hip in their sunglasses.
They quickly succumb to the intense heat and return inside the ship.
A giant sand centipede attacks the ship, spitting a ton of sand that hits
Pan full in the face. The centipede squeezes the ship before being chased
off by Gokuu and Trunks. Later, as Trunks is ironing out the wrinkles
from the ship, he has Gokuu act as look out. The water lines have been
damaged, and when Pan tries to help, she is told by Gokuu to stop bothering
Trunks. This is the last straw; Pan enters the ship, packs up some belongings
and a canteen of water. She says that she hates Gokuu and Trunks, then
flies away into the desert. Only Gill notices this, and becomes concerned
for her.
But, it is too hot for flying, so Pan sets down and switches to walking.
When she stops for a drink of water, her parasol blows away. She runs
after it, and falls down a sand dune, losing some of her water. Gill decides
to fly after Pan -- Trunks and Gokuu ask the robot where it is going,
but don't understand the answer ("after Pan".) Eventually, Pan
runs out of water, decides that she can't go any farther, and discovers
that she is lost. Gill switches from flying to walking also, and disturbs
a giant sand centipede. The robot evades the danger, but calculates that
Pan is very likely to run into her own centipede very soon. Pan collapses
to the ground just as a centipede raises its head and approaches her.

[Commercial Break]

Doru-takkii
arrives on Dr. Myuu's planet. He is rehearsing his speech as he walks
towards Myuu's office. However, his sweet praises of Ruudo's abilities
fall instead on the ears of Shogun Gilldo. (Gilldo is a big, hulking kind
of guy, who later turns out to be a "Machine Mutant".) Doru
wants to know where Dr. Myuu is, and is told that Myuu is not on the planet.
Doru tries to turn to leave, but discovers that Myuu did leave a message
for him -- "Die." Gilldo fires off an energy bolt that hits
Doru-takkii in the head and kills him. Gilldo immediately contacts Myuu,
and asks for his next assignment. Myuu shows images of Gokuu and Trunks,
demanding that the pair be brought to him so that the doctor can use their
power in his experiments.
Back on the desert planet, Gill succumbs to the heat and falls into a
sand dune. It perks up on discovering Pan's abandoned canteen. But, after
dragging the canteen for a mile or so, Gill realizes that it doesn't know
where Pan is. At the ship, Gokuu is trashing a sand centipede, and Trunks
tells the boy to be more gentle (the battle is disturbing Trunk's repair
work.) Gokuu thinks that trashing centipedes is fun, and asks Pan to join
him. Finally, Gokuu notices that Pan is missing.
Pan's limp body is sliding down a sand dune into the waiting maw of a
centipede. She recovers enough to evade the monster, but is too weak to
fight well (this is similar to what happens to Gokuu when he becomes famished.)
Pan is about to be devoured, and she asks Trunks and Gokuu to save her.
Instead, Gill comes soaring out of the sky and rams the monster. As Pan
passes out from the heat, she watches Gill valiantly rushing at the monster's
head, and she mutters "Gill, it's OK -- escape now." She dreams
-- seeing her friends and family. She apologizes to them. Then, she wakes
up to water being dropped on her face by Gill. Not only did the robot
find water, but it also killed the centipede, and recovered the #5 Dragon
Ball. Pan suddenly turns on the robot, panicking it, and apologizes for
her behavior. Then, Gokuu and Trunks show up. They all go to the rock
quarry where Gill found the water, and frolic. Trunks apologizes for what
he'd said earlier, and welcomes Pan into their quest to save Earth. All
is well with the gang again, and because of Pan's running away, they now
have another Dragon Ball.
The narrator comments on their recent events, and asks what will happen
with Shogun Gilldo and Dr. Myuu.

Episode #16
(Aired 6/19/96)
Mashin Wakusei M2... Uragiri no Giro!?
Machine Planet M2... Gill the Backstabber!?
We start out with Pan piloting the ship, and being attacked by hundreds
of robot ships. Turns out that Pan is playing a virtual video game against
Gill and losing horribly. (The screen shows that Gill is spelled "Gill".)
Gokuu wakes up, complaining that Pan is still playing this game. Trunks
arrives and consults Gill on the whereabouts of the next Dragon Ball.
Pan immediately challenges the robot to another round, and Trunks asks
who is winning (the Street Fighter-style display shows Gill-50, Pan-0.)
Gokuu wants them to stop so that he can sleep, and Pan yells out "one
more!" This time, the ship's interior shows the game so that Trunks
can watch. Pan loses again, spectacularly.
Trunks returns to flying the real ship, while Pan chases Gill around to
try to force it to play yet one more round. When she catches it, it suddenly
starts letting off steam and acting like it has overheated (to Pan's concern.)
The lights go out in the ship for a moment, allowing Gill to see outside
a window. It stares out at a passing planet and mutters that it wants
to return there. But, when Gill realizes that Pan has walked up behind
it, it yells "Pan! Danger!" and runs off again. Later that night,
while the others are sleeping, Pan wakes up and stares at the white planet
with what seems to be a big splotchy blob covering part of its face.
The next morning, Trunks is acting surprised at the news from Pan. He
doesn't want to make any detours at this point in the quest to save Earth,
but Pan insists that it'll only be for a short time, and for a good cause.
Gokuu thinks that they may be able to get more food there. Trunks caves
in, and Pan thanks them both. Gill stares out at space and says "I'm
coming home."
Part of the planet is red sand and craters, part is lush forest, and the
rest is deserted city ruins. In one tower, Shogun Rirudo is asking for
a status update. A robot answers that the ship has changed course for
planet M2. Rirudo is pleased at the work of "DD4649T22006RS".
Myuu appears on the screen, and he also asks for a report. Rirudo replies
that he will soon deliver their prey, and is given the run of M2 to make
good on the promise.

[Commercial Break]

The ship lands
in a wood-lined clearing, and the kids step out to stretch. Trunks tells
Pan to stay near the ship, and she agrees to it. Suddenly, there is a
scream -- Gokuu had flown up into a tree and found an apple, but when
he bit into it, he hurt his teeth. Pan rags on him for blindly eating
strange food, but it turns out that the apple is really a VERY heavy metal
ball. Pan wants to keep the pretty thing as a souvenir, until Gill eats
it. The robot gets a much bigger energy boost than it had been expecting,
and lights up the woods. There's an explosion, which leaves the robot
pounded into the ground, and acting sheepish. (Gokuu apologizes for finding
the apple in the first place.)
Later, the heroes reach the city, and comment on how run down the deserted
place looks -- in fact, the entire planet seems to be people-free. Gokuu
calls out "Is anyone here?", which causes an alarm signal to
sound. Suddenly, they are surrounded by thousands of green versions of
Gill (Pan blames Gokuu for this.) One of the green robots greets DD4649T22006RS,
and welcomes it back home. However, while it seems to be recognized by
all of the green robots, Gill claims to not know any of them. It also
claims to not know if this is its home planet. Suddenly, Gill acts as
if it remembers something (or has been summoned somewhere)and floats off.
Gokuu hopes that Gill will return with food. The heroes are left behind,
surrounded by all of the green robots.
When Shogun Rirudo calls out "DD4649T22006RS", all of the robots
in the area freeze up. The Shogun is in the tallest tower in the city,
watching on a holographic projector. Gill joins him, and he congratulates
DD4649T22006RS for luring the humans to M2. Meanwhile, Gokuu is exercising
on an escalator, and Trunks is wondering if Gill had been acting strangely
just now. Then, Gill shows up and leads them deeper into the city (Pan
has another metal apple in her hand, but Gill ignores it).
They get to an older part of the city, and Gokuu senses the great power
of the four stupid-looking robots that had been planning to ambush them.
The robots phase out into the open (they can swim through solid stone,
if they want.) The leader is amused at Gokuu's sensing them, and looks
forward to a fun time (as well as getting the Dragon Balls.) The leader
tells the others to power up, and the resulting explosion sends Pan and
Trunks into the walls of the nearby buildings; Gokuu was ready for this,
and stayed on his feet while being pushed backwards. Gokuu is impressed,
not having felt this much power in a long time. He introduces himself
and asks who the robots are. The leader replies "M2's commandos --
Ener-cannon Shin-go" (The Energy Cannon 4.)
Pan wants to know what the EC4 -- who are now holding Gill -- are planning
to do with her friend. She is told that this isn't "Gill", it
is "DD4649T22006RS", who is a member of EC4's gang. Pan doesn't
buy this and runs forward. Into a trap. One robot breaks up into thousands
of BB's that shoot forward and encase Gokuu and Trunks. This robot sprays
the two heroes with sleeping gas and they pass out. Another robot (with
missiles for fists) chases Pan away. This robot plans on hurting Pan until
Gill speaks up. Gill states that Pan is stranded here and can't escape;
further, the Dragon Balls that Shogun Rirudo wants are on the bodies of
the two captives. This satisfies the leader, and the robots fly away.
Pan has trouble believing what has happened, and wonders what she should
do now.
